Community Partners

Community Partners are important to us in fulfilling our mission. Volunteers become friends of Hilliard House and extend the arms of staff. They bring new ideas and help to residents; they fill gaps we otherwise are not able to fill; and they generously share their expertise with the women and children. Community Partners help us change lives!

Church of Redeemer and Grace and Holy Trinity Church – They assist in holiday giving and helping our aftercare clients gather needed items to maintain comfortable housing.

Honorable Order of The Blue Goose International (HOBGI) Virginia Pond - HOBGI are long time partners with us and their regular support goes back to the early days of Hilliard House. HOBGI has contributed funds (Mike Bike Fred Shed) and sponsored Casino Night for the last three years. Supply collections take place at regular intervals. HOBGI has been involved in a kitchen clean up task and other minor maintenance projects.

Black Creek Baptist Church - This group volunteers in a variety of ways from workshops in managing stress to helping with aftercare and monthly meals.

Fairmount Christian Church - Energetic volunteers help us with maintenance, repairs and supply drives.

Bon Air Rotary Club (BAR) - BAR has provided financial support since 2006. BAR held a Bowl-a-thon for the benefit of Hilliard House and made a major contribution to The Mike Bike Fred Shed. Through Hilliard House Helpers, BAR has been making monthly weekend visits for more than two years. Projects have included fitting out the computer room, installing storage pods in the attic, constructing a table in the quadrangle and a host of other minor maintenance projects.

Shady Grove United Methodist Church Short Pump - Members visit each month with our children to hold a "Mom's Morning out". The church members entertain the children in the shelter while their mothers run errands.

Henrico East Rotary Club - This group adopted Hilliard House early on and has provided furniture and toys for Hilliard House's children's playroom, and assist with holiday giving.

Canterbury Garden Club - The Garden Club organized a beautification project for the property. They are constantly working on the yards and the landscaping.

Women's Club of Sandston – This group has supported us since our beginning. The Women's Club helped decorate our parlor and now provides countless hours of telephone reception help.

Henrico Retired School Personnel – This group assists with agency mailings, supply drives, and volunteers to help with events and tutoring of our children.

Philip Morris USA - Employees spend a day in the spring at Hilliard House spreading mulch, trimming shrubs, raking, and general cleanup to keep the facility grounds in good condition.

Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts – This group provides emersion experiences into the homeless community while offering a number of extracurricular activities for our families. Many young people have received their badges by planning and executing projects for Hilliard House.
