In 2007, Hilliard House received several grants from local businesses and foundations. The Comcast Foundation funded the "Read Aloud Program" with an $11,000 grant that will assist with the cost of this tutoring program for both the children and their mom's through the Virginia Literacy Council. Hilliard House was one of only two organizations in the area to receive funding from the Comcast Foundation.
Some of the contributors are Dominion Resources, The Windsor Foundation, the Oak Hill Fund, Gwathmey Foundation, Virginia Non Profit Housing Coalition, Richmond Human Resource Management Group, The Linhart Foundation and many others.
